will anything ever be as iconic and savage as when sally jackson, percy jackson’s mother, used the decapitated head of the medusa to turn her abusive husband to stone, and then sold him as a statue to an art gallery to critical acclaim and used the resulting funds to pay to attend college and start her dream life as a writer

If you’re in that kind of depression where everything is blurry and days blend into one another, taking a lot of photos of positive things might help. If your pet does something cute, you ate something good, got a high score, you cleaned your room, the weather was nice… I’m not saying this will fix your depression, it’s just a good reminder that you are in fact living regardless of the depression distorting your memory and making your past seem like fog of sadness and nothing else.

why does mental illness have to be so exhausting? what a shitty side effect. almost anything would be better. for example: sudden, unexpected teleportation. surprise! now you’re depressed in peru

I mean, women being dragged out of sweat lodges before the sacred space is destroyed, journalists being arrested, violent assault so far leading to many serious, serious injuries, and sadly enough you all think this is “over.” We had our five seconds of fame as long as we could be used as the “noble savage” prop for all non-native activists.

Also, US Border Patrol and Customs, the National Guard, and fascist Bureau of Indian Affairs Agents are at Standing Rock with militarized vehicles. We keep talking about what America will look like a year or two into a Trump presidency, we keep talking about “America will become a war torn country” but how can you look at Standing Rock and see that for us natives, it has always been this way. The Indian Wars never ended.

That second to last picture of the tents and tipis being burned were set on fire by the natives and they did so because they would rather do that to offer thanks to their temporary dwellings than let the officers come in and destroy them disrespectfully i say this just to clarify that the national guard arent setting tents on fire and to avoid the spread of misinformation.

the camp was built as a place of prayer first and foremost. the buildings were ceremoniously built so they were destroyed ceremoniously by fire as per tradition. do not misinterpret the fires. be outraged at the continued abuse of my people by the government.
